3D Print Index

Etsy 3D print profit calculator

Etsy takes a listing fee, a transaction fee on the item and the shipping you charge, and a payment fee on top. This calculator applies all three the way Etsy bills them, then adds the costs most sellers forget: printer wear, failed prints and your own time.

Etsy fees in this calculator

  • €0.20 listing fee per sale (the listing renews when it sells).
  • 6.5% transaction fee on the item price plus any shipping charged to the buyer.
  • Etsy Payments in the EU: 4% + €0.30 per order. US sellers pay 3% + $0.25; edit the preset.
  • Offsite Ads (12 to 15% on attributed sales) is not included. Add it to the transaction fee if it applies to you.

Every preset is editable under The sale. Other channels: Shopify, eBay, Craft fair, Direct.

Questions

Does Etsy charge fees on shipping?
Yes. The 6.5% transaction fee and the payment processing fee apply to the total the buyer pays, item plus shipping. The calculator charges fees on reimbursed shipping for that reason.
What margin do 3D print sellers aim for on Etsy?
Sellers we studied treat 40% as the floor and most run near 60%. Etsy's fees alone take roughly 11 to 13% of a typical order before offsite ads, so a print that looks profitable on materials alone often is not.
Should I offer free shipping on Etsy?
Etsy ranks free-shipping listings higher. If you do, set shipping to what the label really costs and untick buyer pays shipping; the calculator then treats it as a cost you carry and prices accordingly.
